Gunung Cimerai merupakan salah satu simbol Kabupaten kuningan, keberadaan gunung Ciremai selalu identik dengan keberadaan Kota kuda ini dikarenakan hampir sebagian wilayah Kabupten Kuningan berada di kaki Gunung Ciremai, bahkan sudah menjadi sumber kehidupan bagi masyarakat Kuningan yang ada di sekitar Gunung tersebut. Oleh karena itu harus tetap terjaga kelestariannya, salah satu upayanya telah ditempuh melalui perubahan fungsi Gunung Ciremai menjadi Taman Nasional sejak tahun 2004

Gunung Ciremai pastinya tidak asing dengan para pencinta alam yang sejak lama Gunung ini menjadi sarana pendakian gunung Gunung Ceremai secara administratif termasuk dalam wilayah tiga kabupaten, yakni Kabupaten Cirebon, Kabupaten Kuningan dan Kabupaten Majalengka, Provinsi Jawa Barat Posisi geografis puncaknya terletak pada 6° 53' 30" LS dan 108° 24' 00" BT, dengan ketinggian 3.078 m di atas permukaan laut.
