Suez Canal (Arabic, al-Suways Qana), west of the Sinai Peninsula, a canal boat along the 163 km located in Egypt, linking Port Said (Bur Sa'id) in the Mediterranean with Suez (al-Suways) at Sea Red. Suez Canal opened in 1870 and built on the initiative of a French engineer named Ferdinand, Vicomte de Lesseps.

This canal allows water transport from Europe to Asia without surround Africa. Before the existence of this canal, some transport is done by emptying the vessel and carrying his belongings by land between the Mediterranean and Red Sea. The canal consists of two parts, north and south of the Great Bitter Lake, linking the Mediterranean Sea to the Gulf of Suez.
